VERDICT

Velodyne vQuiet are without any doubt a good set of noise-cancelling headphones with a great amount of base that will please any wants of hip hop and electronic music. The overall audio is well-balanced and is complemented by an excellent build quality and finish that makes these headphones feel really premium. I would not hesitate at all to recommend Velodyne vQuiet headphones to anyone who can appreciate a good set of headphones that can serve for many different purposes from watching movies and playing games to music and voice calls.

vQuiet from Velodyne are over-ear noise cancelling headphones that sound just as good as they look and feel.

Design and controls

Their signature design is both minimalistic and highly functional with all controls discreetly hidden on the back of the headphones where they are easily accessible. There is a dedicated switch that you can use to turn on and off the noise cancelling functionality and the blue Velodyne logo on the side acts as a button that activates special audio enhancements to make your music sound even better.

Build quality

They feel very rigid and solid despite their collapsible design. Earpads are made from soft leather which is also applied to the head bridge. Our testing confirmed that they are comfortable even after hours of use. The same high attention to quality and design has been applied to the cable. Velodyne vQuiet headphones come with 4 foot long braided cable that you can plug into either left or right earcup. It has inline controls and high-quality microphone making them perfect for gaming.

Sound

These headphones truly shine when it comes to just how smooth and well-balanced the bass is with solid overall response and crystal clear highs. Active noise cancellation works surprisingly great and when you turn this feature on all surrounding noise basically disappears. Velodyne states that the active noise cancelling feature removes up to 90% of all unwanted sounds and this seems to be true. But even without the noise cancelling on, these headphones offer such a great sound isolation and a minimum amount of sound-bleed that you can comfortably use them in busy public spaces.

Extra features

The included storage bag adds to their great compatibility that is achieved thanks to their folding design. The storage bag could use some extra padding to add to the protection, but it does a fairly good job even without it.

Packaging:

These headphones come with 4 foot long 3.5 mm (3/8”) audio cable with inline controls and very convenient microphone that provides an excellent audio quality. You also get 1/8″ to 1/4″ plug adapter, micro USB charging cable to recharge the noise cancelling feature of vQuiet headphones, and a handy carrying pouch.
